Youth suicide rates have decreased in Oregon, except for Black and Brown youth. BYSPC is one of 8 state teams involved in a pilot project to end suicide attempts among Black youth.

A group of 11 members from across Oregon, we meet bi-weekly to develop a statewide Black youth suicide prevention plan, and to promote collaboration.

The coalition formed in 2023 at the country’s first-ever Black Youth Suicide Policy Academy, held by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
