Presentation Topics
Pre-K and Kindergarten: Tooth Grab Bag
Kids reach into a tooth-shaped bag to pull out dental related items (toothbrush, mask, floss, etc.) This is a great way to get kids talking and learning about basic oral wellness. 25 minutes
Grades 1-2: Tooth Bingo
After a brief discussion on oral wellness, kids play bingo to see how much they remember. Great fun! 30 minutes
Grade 3: Plaque Control
A discussion about the causes and prevention of tooth decay and gum disease, followed by a hands-on tooth brushing activity with the students. 45 minutes
Grade 4: Dental Jeopardy
As much fun as inviting the late Alex Trebek into your classroom. This game teaches students the 8 essential oral wellness behaviors, while promoting team-building skills. 50 minutes
Grades 5-6: Stop the Pop!
A brief discussion of oral wellness followed by a lesson on sweetened drinks like soda and Gatorade. Students learn how to read food labels to determine how much sugar is in a product. They then work in pairs to identify one drink item and report back to the class on what they discovered. 1 hour
