About the Archives

The County Records Management and Archives Program maintains archival records for use by county agencies and public researchers.

Archival records are records that have been identified for permanent retention on agency records retention schedules, records that are included in the Multnomah County Historical Records Inventory, or records that were created in 1920 or earlier.

We are committed to making the archives widely accessible and will work to make your research as straight-forward as possible.

Visiting the Archives

All visitors must follow current facility use and research rules and health and safety guidelines for entering county buildings.

In its facilities, Multnomah County has authority to keep order and impose reasonable restrictions necessary for the efficient and orderly conduct of County business. A person engaging in conduct that disrupts or interferes with the normal operation of the County, or that disturbs County staff or other members of the public, including, but not limited to, conduct that involves the use of abusive or threatening language or gestures, conduct that creates unreasonable noise, or conduct that consists of loud or boisterous physical behavior or talking, may be asked or required to leave and upon failure to do so becomes a trespasser. Any person who fails to comply with reasonable direction from County staff or a security officer, or who creates a disturbance may be asked or required to leave and upon failure to do so becomes a trespasser. For more information see Executive Rule 0374.
