Multnomah County to host annual Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Information Fair Thursday, May 16

Multnomah County, Ore. (May 1, 2024) Multnomah County’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Division (IDDSD) today announced its annual Information Fair on Thursday, May 16. The event will be held at the DHS Conference and Training Center at 11826 NE Glisan Street in Portland, Oregon and will run from 1 to 6 pm. The fair is themed “A World of Opportunity: Here in Our Community” and is free for all attendees.

The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Division (IDDSD) serves almost 7,000 people experiencing neurodiversity throughout Multnomah County, including individuals diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy or an intellectual disability.

The Information Fair is an opportunity for the consumers of IDDSD supports and members of the public to meet a wide variety of service providers in the local community including representatives from Vocational Rehabilitation, local brokerage agencies, and personal support workers. Vendors will be available to discuss an array of resources, such as:

  • residential services,

  • summer activities,

  • employment and training,

  • educational opportunities,

  • transportation,

  • social groups

  • relief care, and more.

In addition to the community provider tables, there will be games and prizes for attendees.  Attendees can enjoy these activities while learning about the various resources and services available to them.

The DHS Conference and Training Center is conveniently located near MAX and TriMet bus stops, and parking is free for attendees. Advance registration is not required, so anyone interested in accessing services via the Multnomah County Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities program can come and discover a wide array of resources that are available to them.

“This year’s resource fair will be an interactive and engaging event. We aim to make a broad range of services and information accessible to families and individuals experiencing neurodiversity in our community,” said IDDSD Director Alexis Alberti. “In addition to educating the community about our program and related services, this event aims to improve the well-being and community integration of our public consumers. We wish to support participants with future opportunities.”
