Food Handler's Test

As of October 22, Multnomah County Environmental Health offices are now located at Lloyd Corporate Plaza, 847 NE 19th Ave, Suite 350.

All food service workers in Oregon must obtain food handler’s certification within 30 days of the date of hire (OAR 333-175). To get certified, you must pass the food handler’s test, available both online and at our office.

Preparing for Your Test

Before taking the test, download the food handler manual (or pick up one from our office) and study it carefully. There’s also an online practice test. Training videos in seven languages are also available for viewing at our office.

Take the Test

Online
Requires an email address and credit card. Upon completing the test, you may print your food handler card directly from the website. Take the test»

In Person
Visit our office during open hours. Bring a photo ID and the $10 fee (cash only). You can take a written test or audio test (on compact disc). You may watch a training video in our office before taking the test (required for the audio test). Videos and tests are available in multiple languages as listed above. Allow 40 minutes to watch the video and 20 minutes for the test.
