PUBLIC RECORDS ACCESS
Please be aware customer traffic normally increases between 12 p.m and 2:00 p.m. and 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm. Expect longer than normal wait times if arrving between those hours.
The DART Customer Service Office is home to over 150 years' worth of recorded documents and public records. Over the past few years the County expanded its electronic accessibility to these historical public records. Recorded Documents and Recorded Indices from 1965 to present are now available in an electronic format. You can use one of our public access terminals in our office to locate, view, and print Multnomah County recorded documents. In addition, you can search the Multnomah County Marriage Index from 1980 to present.
Other property assessment and taxation records, such as tax bills and certified tax roll information, are still available upon request by mail, email or in person.
PUBLIC ACCESS TERMINALS
The DART Customer Service Office has fourteen public access terminals available to research and view electronic versions of documents. If you need assistance, a clerk is available to assist you with use of the equipment.
WHAT RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE?
The DART Customer Service Office maintains property assessment and taxation records, marriage records and recorded documents. The following is a general list of document types and their available format.
Recorded Documents (Deeds, Liens, Mortgages, etc.)
Recorded Indices (Direct, Indirect)
Microfilm and Microfiche: (Available upon advanced request)
Tax Bills (Copies of actual tax statements)
Tax Rolls (Certified tax, value and appraisal information)
Characteristic Cards (Full appraisal information and values)
Misc. Indices (Owner, Address)
The DART Customer Service Office DOES NOT maintain the following records:
Bankruptcy Records (US Bankruptcy Court)
Birth Records (State and County Offices)
Court Records (County Courthouse)
Unrecorded Death Records (State Vital Records Office)
Divorce Decrees (State and County Offices)
Probate Records (County Courthouse)

PUBLIC ACCESS DOCUMENT FEES
Fees are charged for copies of recorded documents. Please read carefully to best understand how much you can expect to pay.
PRINTED FROM THE PUBLIC ACCESS TERMINAL
- Standard Copies: $.25 cents per page.
- Certified Copies: $4.00 for the first page, $.25 cents for each additional page (per document).
Requests by mail:
- Standard Copies: $4.00 for the first page, $.25 cents for each additional page (per document).
- Certified Copies: $7.75 for the first page, $.25 cents for each additional page (per document).
Requests by e-mail:
$3.75 per document.
Please include the document type, document number (or book and page) and the year of recording when requesting copies of recorded documents. If you are requesting the most recent recorded document and you do not have the document number, please submit the street address or tax account number and the names of all relevant parties (buyer, seller, company, etc.).
Research Fee: A research fee may be imposed on requests for multiple deeds. Please inquire to the Recording office at 503-988-3326 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or speak with a live chat operator about potential fees.
Payment must be included with request. We accept cash, checks, or certified funds. Checks can be made out to: Multnomah County Recorder and mailed to PO BOX 5007, PORTLAND, OR 97208-5007.
Assessor records (tax bills, tax rolls, characteristics cards (commercial and residential) are available upon advanced request. Fees charged for assessor records are:
Tax Bills: $1.00 for current year, $2.00 for prior years.
Tax Rolls: $1.00 for current year, $2.00 for prior years.
Characteristics Cards: $2.00 per account, per year.
Building Cards and Sketches: $1.00 per page.
Emailed Copies: Free (subject to Research Fee)
