Cash, debit, credit cards are NOT accepted. Bring a current, government-issued photo ID. 

Checks or money orders (made to the Adult Care Home Program) are accepted. 

Background checks which you have received for other purposes are NOT accepted. You will need a new background check even if you live or work in an Adult Care Home as a caregiver or resident manager.

English competency test 

There is no charge and pre-registration is required.

There will be a list at the reception desk for you to sign in.

After you have passed the English test and the background check, email the Adult Care Home Program at to register for the Operator/Resident Manager Orientation.

WARNING: If you take an Ensuring Quality of Care class, also known as Basic Training, you must pass the Multnomah County Qualifying Test within 90 days of completing the course. Failure to do so will require that you take the class again, a cost of between $250 - $500!

Fire and Life Safety 

Complete the online Fire and Life Safety training for Adult Care Homes, available here: Fire Safety Class  You must complete this training in the 12 month period prior to licensing.
