Brief daytime closures of the north sidewalk of the Broadway Bridge are planned on Wednesday, October 18, while a contractor removes heavy bridge parts above the sidewalk.  The sidewalk may be closed for up to 15 minutes at a time for public safety, while the contractor removes one of the century-old steel wheels and a track that help open the drawbridge for ships to pass.

Sidewalk users can avoid delays by using the south sidewalk when the north sidewalk is closed.

Hamilton Construction is the general contractor for the Rall wheel replacement project. Four new wheels, tracks and trunnions will replace the old parts that wore out after a century of use.
