District 2 Interns Claire Carmony and Cara Koch

Claire Carmony, MSW Intern

Claire is in her final year of the Masters of Social Work program at Portland State University. After growing up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduating from New Mexico Highlands University, Claire moved to Oregon in 2014. Claire has spent her career working in residential treatment facilities for both youth and adults. Through a combination of both professional and volunteer positions, her focus has been on youth in state custody.  She will be interning with Commissioner Jayapal’s office until June 2019.  

Cara Koch, MSW Intern

Cara is originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelors of Social Work in 2016. She has a background in direct service with at-risk youth and adults with developmental disabilities. She moved to Portland in February 2017. She is now a social work graduate student where her concentration is practice and leadership with communities and organizations. She will be interning under Commissioner Jayapal's office until she graduates in June 2019.
