County seeking applicants for Advisory Committee on Sustainability

September 17, 2010

Multnomah County is accepting applications for the new Advisory Committee on Sustainability and Innovation (ACSI). The citizen committee will use their creative prowess and business acumen to advise the board on issues relating to the environment, economy and community.

Members of the ACSI will offer direction in sustainable government practices, social justice and the application of the 2009 Climate Action Plan. The committee will pick up the work of its predecessor, the Portland/Multnomah County Sustainable Development Commission, which ended after the creation of the City of Portland’s Planning and Sustainability Commission.

“Sustainability and innovation are guiding principles for the work we do at Multnomah County,” said Chair Jeff Cogen.  “Creating this new board gives us an opportunity to benefit from the diverse perspectives and passion in our community, and will help make Multnomah County a more effective organization and a better place to live.”

The county is currently accepting applications for appointment to the ACSI.  Applicants must live in Multnomah County and have relevant experience in sustainability, economic development, environmental justice or related fields. Please see the full list of committee member qualifications for more details.

Applications are due Sept 24.  An online application can be found at /sustainability. For more information or to request an application, call Tim Lynch at 503-988-4094 or send an email tosustainability@multco.us.
