CROPS Report 2015
CROPS (Community Reaps Our Produce and Shares) is a Multnomah County initiative that includes the CROPS Farm (a formerly vacant, county-owned lot in Troutdale), the Inverness Jail Garden, and the Hope Garden.

With a focus on the community, the 2015 harvest from CROPS was largely donated to SnowCap Community Charities. Currently in its 8th season, the gardens are thriving with bountiful harvests and an engaged volunteer base. Not only does the CROPS initiative help people in need, but it enables people to eat healthier, teaches skills, and fosters an opportunity to build community.

  • 1,422 pounds or 10,096 servings of food were produced with the help of inmates and volunteers at the Inverness Jail garden
  • 2,710 hours of hands-on farm work were logged by 542 clients from the Alternative Community Service program
  • 17,115 pounds or 121,517 servings of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables were grown for hungry families in Multnomah County
  • 2,125 hours of labor were provided by community members

Testimonials

“I like that I got to help out and learn things I never knew. This was fun and easy. I'd like to start planting and teach my younger siblings how to garden and plant as well." - Key’Auishay

“The look and taste of every piece [of produce] is amazing. The peace I have found here has been so rewarding in a time I needed and wanted it so much." - Alternative Community Services client
