In an effort to raise awareness and donations, The Multco Volunteer Program is teaming up with DCHS Youth and Family Division for the 2016 Race to End Child Homelessness, a free 5K race on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Mount Tabor Park, S.E. 60th Ave. and Salmon St, in Portland.
On any given night in Multnomah County, more than 2,000 children experience homelessness. These children are either sleeping on the streets, in shelter, doubled up with family or friends, at a transitional housing facility or in an apartment paid for with rent assistance. Homelessness and adverse childhood experiences cause children to face greater barriers in their education, employment and relationships.
The event is free, however, registration is required to participate.
Interested in Volunteering for the event? Email MVP@multco.us and let us know!
We hope Multnomah County employees and families will join us at the Race to End Child Homelessness to run, walk and bring much needed awareness to child homelessness. Proceeds from the race help support children by providing their family with transportation, meals, clothing for employment and more.
Additional Details:Get there early, between 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. to check in. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. Family-friendly activities at the event include pumpkin decorating, photo booths, face painting and more.
