We have reviewed more than 100 river crossing options for the Burnside lifeline route. We have thoroughly screened these options to make sure they meet the need for a reliable crossing after a major earthquake.

We will share the screening process and the project team's recommendations this summer and fall. We will be asking for public comment before choosing final options in November 2018. The final options will be studied in the environmental phase of the project.

Recommended Options for Public Comment

Seismic Retrofit

An upgrade of the existing bridge to meet current seismic standards. We can't rebuild above the freeway or the railroad tracks, so that portion of the bridge will be replaced.
