Commercial River User Survey: Willamette River Above Mile 12.7
Multnomah County is conducting a river user navigation study as it evaluates alternatives for a Burnside Bridge retrofit or replacement which could survive a major earthquake. The County will share the survey results with the US Coast Guard, which would review any navigation permit for a bridge option. The purpose of the survey is to gather river user information to help us evaluate alternatives and also inform you about our project.
For river users, the current Burnside Bridge has a vertical clearance of 64.0 feet at river level 0.0 (Columbia River Datum), and a horizontal clearance in the navigation channel of 205 feet.
The Coast Guard will provide time for river users to comment when our bridge options are evaluated. The project goal is to identify a preferred alternative in 2020 or 2021.
