I am running for the Corbett School District Board of Directors because I believe in public education and that getting involved and serving in our community is important. As the debate over funding for public education continues, rather than just complain about increased taxes, and perceived out of control spending, I choose to get involved and was assigned a position on the Corbett School District Budget Committee for the 2004-2005 school year. This experience helped me understand some of the intricacies and challenges of school funding. In July of 2004, when a vacancy on the school board was announced, I was appointed to the board of directors. As a board member, it has been my pleasure to get to know the students and staff at the school in a more personal way. I believe Corbett has some of the best teachers and staff in the county, if not the State. This is due, in large part, to the efforts of previous and current board members who created an environment that would attract and retain these individuals. If I am elected, I will strive to continue this tradition of setting the bar high for the staff and students of Corbett School District.
