You are Portland. We have celebrated this ideal throughout my campaign. You give Portland its culture. You give Portland its pride. You give Portland its future.

I continue to root my beliefs in what you say to me:

Equity: I live in the Lents neighborhood and see the unaddressed needs, especially on the East side. Equity means swinging the pendulum the other way and stalling downtown projects while aggressively supporting our culturally diverse neighborhoods.

Education: Embrace partnerships with family services, early childhood, businesses and higher education, so all students receive an equal chance at real learning. Remove the obstacles of safety and inequity and create inspiring places. Restore vocational training as an option to college.

Jobs: Re-inhabit empty storefronts, require local hiring preferences, attract businesses in rapid growth industries, and establish adult training in new job markets through projects like the proposed Gateway Education Center. Fight for these.

Transportation: Shift spending to road repairs, sidewalks, and crosswalks. Address structural fatigue at the Columbia River Bridge, but don't widen or replace it. Keep that money for long term jobs.

Health and Public Safety: Prioritize mental health remedies and awareness. Re-prioritize police patrol routes toward schools and parks. Give children back their youth in a socially and environmentally healthy city.

"I have watched Scott with community groups and have had the pleasure of working with him for several years. He is passionate, fully engaged, and committed to seeing things through. He would make a great Mayor." Paul Peterson, public school administrator, posted 3/12/12.

Support partnerships. Support and grow the East Portland Action Plan and Portland Plan. Support Scott Rose as Mayor.
