Mark McKay joined the Multnomah County Department of Emergency Management in June 2017. Working under the direction of the Division Chief of Operations, Mark is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of the Multnomah County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and managing the technological and communication tools associated with the EOC and the emergency management program.
Before joining the County, Mark worked for the Portland Bureau of Emergency management where he oversaw the communications and technology tools used in the City’s Emergency Coordination Center and mobile communication assets. Mark also worked as the Emergency Management Coordinator for Lane County before moving to the Portland area.
Mark served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years as a Hospital Corpsman/Surgical Technologist, working in a variety of positions including senior surgical technologist for Amphibious Group Three while stationed on board the U.S.S. Peleliu and as the senior tech for pediatric surgical services while stationed at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego.
During his 15 plus years in emergency management, Mark has completed numerous federal, state and local disaster courses and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in information technology.
