What is HIV, how is it spread, and what are the symptoms?
HIV infection is a disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The condition gradually destroys the immune system, which makes it harder for the body to fight infections. HIV transmission can occur when blood, semen, pre-seminal fluid, vaginal fluid, or breast milk from an infected person enters the body of an uninfected person. The only way to know whether you are infected is to be tested for HIV. Read more HIV basics»
