As the holiday season approaches, Healthy Birth Initiatives is seeking gift donations to help support the families in our program. You can help make our holiday celebration a success by donating toys and gifts.
Healthy Birth Initiatives serves over 500 low-income African American women and their families living in north, northeast and southeast Portland. Many people are not aware that the African American infant mortality rate is twice that of the general population. We offer a variety of supportive services to help reduce infant death and illness.
Due to an increase in the number of families we serve, we’re starting our gift drive early this year so that all families can receive a gift.
So that everyone receives gifts of similar value, please stay within the suggested amounts of $10-25 for children and $20-25 for parents.
For infants and toddlers (ages 0-2) - Baby supplies, toys, books or gift cards.
For children - Toys, movies, games, clothes, hat and glove sets, books or gift cards for boys and girls in these age groups:
- Ages 3-5
- Ages 6-11
- Ages 12-15
For moms and fathers - Stress-relief and pampering items such as candles, bubble bath, oils, and gift cards.
