eWIC card

On January 25, we will begin switching WIC families over to the new eWIC card. The switch will happen in the month your paper vouchers run out. You can start shopping with your eWIC card the following month. Not everyone will switch at the same time.

When It’s Your Turn

We’ll let you know and give you your card when you come in for your next scheduled class or appointment. You’ll complete some paperwork and then we’ll set up your eWIC card and show you how to use it. This appointment may take longer than usual.

Please make every effort to attend your set-up appointment. If you need to reschedule, be sure to call us (503-988-3503 Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm) as far in advance as possible.

Decide Who Gets a Card

Each family can receive up to 2 eWIC cards. Before your appointment you’ll need to decide who the first and second cardholders will be. The first cardholder must go to the appointment where we give you your card.

For each cardholder, we will need to know their:

  • First and last name
  • Date of birth
  • Address (home, mailing or work) with zip code

First cardholders:

  • Must live with the WIC participant (parent, foster parent, caregiver)
  • Can bring a child to their WIC appointments, attend nutrition education classes and appointments, shop with WIC benefits
  • Can choose a second cardholder and change them later on

Second cardholders:

  • Do not have to live with the WIC participant
  • Can bring a child to their WIC appointments, attend nutrition education classes and appointments, shop with WIC benefits
  • Cannot change the first cardholder

The second cardholder should be someone you can trust and who you know will spend your WIC benefits wisely. You don’t have to have a second cardholder.
