The next Youth & Gang Violence Steering Committee meeting is on Monday, November 26th, at the Multnomah Building (501 SE Hawthorne) in room 201 from 3:30 to 5 pm.
A copy of the minutes from our last meeting and the agenda are attached. Please review the minutes and give me any corrections. After any corrections, we will approve them at the meeting in anticipation of placing them on the LPSCC website:
Also attached, a proposal to the Oregon Youth Development Council for a GIFT Coordinator. This proposal comes in part out of the conversation we had with Iris Bell at the last meeting, and your endorsement of the proposal will be requested at the meeting, so please be sure to review it in advance.
Erika will be facilitating and requested that we put on the agenda a discussion of next steps for the Y&GVSC with our current action plan, including how can we support intervention, prevention, suppression and reentry programs in the community, and what data the Committee needs to ensure fidelity to best practice, tracking outcomes and identifying gaps. She recommended reviewing information on Compstat to open a discussion about how it relates to the work of the Steering Committee. I'm attaching some background on the Compstat model, but would welcome your suggestions. I'm also attaching an article, "Police Organizational Model," that seemed to touch on some of the same themes of creating accountability.
