Reception Center open during downtown power outage

May 23, 2017

Multnomah County’s Department of County Human Services is operating a reception center at the Mead Building at 421 SW 5th Avenue until 9 pm today to assist individuals impacted by today’s power outage downtown.

County staff can assist individuals who may need medications, transportation, mental health support, assistance applying for benefits or other help. Coffee, water and food will be provided. The center is open to people of all ages and abilities.

Pacific Power reports that a fire last night shut power off to part of downtown bordered by NW Davis, SW Main, SW 9th and I-405. The utility expects power will be restored some time tonight.

A number of multi-story residential buildings are without power. Residents in buildings that are without power can also contact:

  • The Aging and Disability Resource Connection Helpline at 503-988-3646
  • If anyone is feeling overwhelmed, please call the Mental Health Crisis Line at 800-716-9769
  • Inquiries about the power outage should be directed to Pacific Power (customer service 1-888-221-7070)

The county’s Central Library is closed today due to the power outage. All other library branches are operating at normal hours.
