The Multnomah Youth Commission's Youth Against Violence Committee (YAV) invites youth (21 and under) in schools, after-school programs, and within community organizations to apply for up to $1000 to develop a youth-led project that addresses violence in their communityApplications are due February 13, 2017.

Community 101 involves students through service, leadership and charitable giving; we learn about our community through volunteering and grantmaking.

Our YAV Community 101 group has the opportunity to distribute $4,000 to Oregon youth-led groups who want to take ownership over issues of violence that affect them and lead a project that relates to one or more of YAV’s policy recommendations, which are tied to seven different forms of violence and Restorative Justice: anti-gay and gender, police, gang, cyberbullying, school (bullying), home/family, sexual/dating violence. Grants can be up to $1,000 and will promote our mission statement, which is:

“We, the youth of Multnomah Youth Commission’s Youth Against Violence subcommittee, strive to empower youth-led organizations, school programs and groups to engage in anti-violence initiatives in our communities. With the assistance of the PGE Foundation, we will target youth organizations and school groups within the City of Portland and Multnomah County.”

We will be accepting grant applications until February 13, 2017. Please complete and attach grant application and submit it to the address listed below. We will review all proposals and request a site visit and/or interview with a representative from your group.
