On Wednesday, March 6th, the Multnomah County Citizen Involvement Committee and County Chair Jeff Cogen will co-sponsor a forum about upcoming changes in the county's early childhood programs and healthcare system. The forum will first provide an overview of proposed state changes to early childhood programs and Multnomah County's role in this process. The county's current programs could be significantly affected by Governor John Kitzhaber’s 2013 legislative priority to create a state-wide early childhood system that provides greater emphasis on kindergarten preparation and school success.
The second half of the forum will focus on the county's new healthcare system, including descriptions of the benefits provided and eligibility requirements. An overview of Multnomah County’s new Coordinated Care Organization that provides care for low-income county residents will be presented. Finally, information will be given about the new state-sponsored marketplace for working individuals and families to shop for health insurance plans and access financial assistance to help pay for coverage.
Then, it will be your turn as you will have a chance to ask questions and give input about these new initiatives.
