After receiving extensive information about the programs of county departments and much thoughtful consideration, the county's Citizen Budget Advisory Committees (CBACs) have released their recommendations for the county’s 2012-13 budget. Members of the public serve on the CBACs which independently review and make recommendations on county departmental budgets. They present their recommendations both in writing and direct testimony to the Board of County Commissioners. There are nine different CBACs with one assigned for each major county department or office. This year's recommendations range from increasing collaborations both within the county and with outside organizations, to protecting Sheriff’s Office funding for child abuse and specific jail officer positions. Although not all recommendations are ultimately adopted, public input improves how the county uses revenue and delivers services.
