Yesterday, a resident of Multnomah County, a veteran who served his country honorably, passed away from COVID-19. We send our deepest sympathies to his family and friends throughout this season of grief. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals who worked tirelessly to provide this individual with the highest level of compassionate care during these uncertain and volatile times.
The day we would lose our first Oregonian to this outbreak has felt inevitable, but we are no less devastated to learn of his passing. This reminds us that our own community is not immune from the most serious consequences of the virus’s spread. We are committed to minimizing the effects of this virus in our community as much as we can to keep everyone, especially older people and those with underlying conditions, as safe and healthy as possible.
