Approximately 100 people from state and local governments, non-profits, and citizen advisory boards throughout the Portland metro area attended the Diversity Outreach Workshop on August 11.

Monica Beemer, Executive Director of Sisters Of the Road (SOTR), presented for nearly one hour about how SOTR has conducted outreach with regard to the unique community of people experiencing homelessness and poverty. See a summary of the outreach tools and strategies that Monica presented by clicking here Summary of Outreach Tools and Strategies (25.03 KB).

A group discussion followed the presentation in which the attendees considered how SOTR’s suggestions could be applied to their own organization’s mission as well as how the Multnomah County Citizen Involvement Committee could further assist their organizations to fill gaps they may be experiencing in reaching out to diverse communities.
