View entire RFP Jail Kiosk Systems

The purpose of this procurement is to provide programmed Kiosk Systems for various jail services functions intended to assist the inmate population and corrections staff.  Major service components include: automated lobby account deposits, video visitation, other inmate services, and intake/booking, cash management system.

Sustainability Questions Used (additional sustainability reference on page 7)

 1. Describe your company’s internal sustainable business practices including but not limited to a sustainability policy and/or sustainable purchasing plan. Describe efforts to reduce generation of pollution at the source and minimize impacts to human health and the environment in the manufacture and delivery of your goods and services. Provide specific examples, metrics, details of efforts, practices, and/or processes. 

Evaluation Criteria: The Proposer-

  • Describes sustainability efforts including sustainability policy and/or sustainable purchasing plan.
  • Describes efforts to reduce generation of pollution at the source and minimize impacts to human health and the environment in the manufacture and delivery of goods and services.
  • Provides specific examples, metrics, details of practices, and/or processes to deliver goods and services in a sustainable manner.

2. Do the kiosks contain toxic materials? If so, what efforts are being made to reduce toxics? Are kiosks RoHS (Restrictions on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic Devices) compliant? Describe sustainable features of kiosks. Describe environmentally responsible processes and methodologies used in the manufacturing of kiosks. 

Evaluation Criteria: The Proposer-

  • Identifies any toxic materials contained in kiosks and efforts being made to reduce toxics.
  • Confirms kiosks are RoHS compliant.
  • Describes sustainable features.
  • Describes environmentally responsible manufacturing processes and methodologies. 

3. Do kiosks require 110 or 220 volt power supply? Do kiosk hard drives use low power technology?
Does the kiosk power supply feature energy friendly attributes such as “80 PLUS®” certification?
Describe sleep mode energy savings and peak energy loads. Are technicians able to diagnose and
perform maintenance and repairs on kiosks from remote locations?

Evaluation Criteria: The Proposer-

  • Confirms kiosks can operate on 110 volts, which reduces or eliminates the need for power supply upgrades.
  • Identifies hard drive low power technology.
  • Describes sleep mode energy savings and peak energy loads.
  • Describes energy friendly power supply features such as “80 PLUS®” certification.
  • Describes remote maintenance and repair activities that can be performed on kiosks that reduce the number of required vehicle trips to MCSO facilities.

4. What measures are taken to reduce shipment packaging? Are packaging materials re-used or
readily recycled? How are used kiosks disposed? To what extent are kiosks recycled or
recyclable?

  • Specifies measures taken to reduce, re-use, and recycle shipment packaging.
  • Describes kiosk recyclability and disposal practices that promote recycling.
