Look who just turned thirty! This groovy design documents the dedication party for the Yeon Complex (as the Solar Shops is now known). While the County Records Program has only been a resident for eight years, the building was opened in east county 30 years ago. It was built to hold the shops that had been located at Rocky Butte until that site was deconstructed to make way for I-205.
The building was designed to be energy efficient and even boasted solar panels on the roof. A second building was added to the location in 1995. The complex currently houses the Land Use and Transportation Program, the County Archives and Records Center, Fleet and Electronics, and the Department of Community Services administration.
