The Hansen Building, located at Northeast 122nd Avenue and Glisan Street in Portland, was originally built as a county health clinic in 1956. The building was designed to be used by medical staff and patients until the clinic moved to the McCoy building in downtown Portland. In 1976, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office moved into the Hansen Building as a temporary location until a permanent facility could be built.
Not only does the structure lack the necessary security operations for a law enforcement agency, it is seismically unsafe, and does not serve the base of the community in east Multnomah County.
Multnomah County is committed to relocating the Sheriff’s Office to a safe, efficient, economical and sustainable facility. Currently, the project is in phase two (identification and acquisition of property) of a three-phase process to relocate in the desired area of northeast Multnomah County to better serve the community.
