Multnomah County Transportation is hosting an open house on Tuesday, June 23 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. to seek community input on road improvements planned for NE Sandy Boulevard between NE 230th Avenue and NE 238th Avenue in the cities of Fairview and Wood Village. The event will be held at the Fairview Community Center at 300 Harrison Street in Fairview.
The event will have a drop-in open format. The public can stop by anytime from 6 – 7:30 p.m. to see the latest project designs, ask questions and comment on the project. There will be a staff presentation at 6:30 pm.
Sandy Boulevard has long been identified as a substandard street with safety concerns for pedestrians and bicyclists. It is a key commute route in east county. The county is seeking input on current plans from anyone who uses Sandy Boulevard, including residents, business owners, employees and visitors.
The proposed project would rebuild the street from the end of existing sidewalks near NE 238th to NE 230th. The project includes sidewalks, bike lanes, two traffic lanes, and intersection improvements at NE 230th. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2016.
Multnomah County maintains this section of Sandy Blvd. and 300 miles of roads and bridges.
