The purpose of the Multnomah County I/DD Advisory Council
- To advise the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Division (IDDSD) at Multnomah County on basic policy guidelines for those individuals inquiring about, applying for, or receiving services and to review and evaluate the effectiveness of the services provided by IDDSD.
- To advocate for issues that are pertinent to the life and welfare of people experiencing intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in Multnomah County and their support networks.
- To educate the general public of the issues and concerns facing all people in the I/DD community living and working in Multnomah County.

Membership
Our diverse council brings together individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, family caregivers and natural supports, service providers, community partners, and leadership from Multnomah County’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Division. Interested in joining the IDDSD Advisory Council? Our next open recruitment begins in Spring 2026. We will share more details and how to apply on this page as the date approaches!
You may be able to join if you:
- Are a person experiencing a developmental and/or intellectual disability who wants to bring your experience to impact the advisory process
- Have awareness regarding the I/DD community, related policies, and/or services needs
- Have community planning experience

- Gain experience and knowledge working with IDDSD leadership and other critical I/DD services

- Learn about current issues impacting the Multnomah County I/DD community and experience shaping the I/DD services system
Member Expectations
Meetings are held four to five times per year. Upon entrance into the committee, voting members serve three year terms. Voting members are expected to follow Robert's Rules of Order when voting and making decisions as a Council.
