Help residents prepare for heat

  • Take steps to prepare homes, such as using sun-blocking curtains. (Spanish version)
  • Consider creating a misting station.
  • Find multilingual tips to print in different languages to distribute or post in common areas.
  • If you have a common area, is it air conditioned? Can it be a cooling space for residents who lack air conditioning?
  • Encourage residents on Medicaid/OHP to check on their eligibility for programs that might help with getting a cooling unit: 
    • Health Share of Oregon recipients: Call 503-416-8090 to ask for help with obtaining a fan, air conditioner or air purifier
    • Other people on OHP: Call OHP Client Services at 1-800-273-0557 to find out which insurance provide to contact about eligibility.
