Expect frequent Willamette River bridge lifts due to high river levels

Starting Wednesday, May 17 at 7 a.m. the Broadway, Burnside, Morrison and Hawthorne bridges will be staffed 24-7 due to high river levels. Expect traffic delays for more frequent bridge lifts on the Willamette River. Ships may need bridge lifts in order to pass safely through the channel. Multnomah County maintains six Willamette River bridges (Broadway, Burnside, Hawthorne, Morrison, Sauvie Island and Sellwood). The four bridges will remain staffed 24-7 at least through early next week. Multnomah County Transportation will provide updates on the status of river levels and its impacts on bridges maintained by the County.
