On Sunday, June 23rd the Hawthorne Bridge will be closed to all motorized vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for maintenance work. Crews will be greasing the counterweight cables which is part of regular maintenance for the bridge. Use alternative routes. Throughout the week leading up to the closure, there will be intermittent lane closures on the bridge as crews prepare equipment for Sunday’s maintenance work. Sunday’s closure is not weather dependent.
Multnomah County maintains five Willamette River bridges: the Sellwood, Hawthorne, Morrison, Burnside and Broadway Bridges as well as the Wapato Bridge over the Multnomah Channel. For information, visit: https://www.multco.us/bridges.
