TRAFFIC ALERT: This week there will be directional lane closures on the Hawthorne Bridge for ongoing maintenance and paving work. Expect traffic delays.
Eastbound lanes
This week the eastbound vehicular lanes will be closed on the Hawthorne Bridge. Eastbound lanes will close at 7:00 p.m. starting Monday, Sept. 23 and continue each day through Friday, Sept. 27. The eastbound vehicular lanes and sidewalk will reopen at 11:00 a.m. each following morning. Pedestrians will be directed to use the westbound sidewalk. Cyclists will be directed to a detour. There will be flaggers on the bridge directing traffic.
These closures are weather dependent. Plan ahead for your commute and use alternative routes.
On Saturday, Sept. 28, all lanes on the Hawthorne Bridge will be reopen after 11:00 a.m. Eastbound lane closures continue with those same time frames on Sunday, Sept. 29 and Monday, Sept. 30.
