TRAFFIC ALERT: Tonight, on Friday, Aug. 2 starting at 7 p.m., the Hawthorne Bridge will close to all motorized vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians for bridge repairs.
The bridge will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5. During this work, crews will also set up temporary bicycle and pedestrian detours. Please use caution near the construction site. Use alternative routes and plan ahead for your commute.
In addition to the closure, the westbound lanes are closed every weekday at 2 p.m. and reopen 5 a.m. the following morning. The westbound lane closures were previously announced in late July.
This traffic configuration affecting the westbound lanes will last until mid- to late August.
During the westbound closure, crews have set up a temporary bicycle and pedestrian detour for the north (westbound) sidewalks starting from S.E. Grand Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard. The north sidewalk and westbound bike lanes will be closed through Aug. 30. The bridge’s south sidewalk and eastbound bike lanes remain open.
All lanes and sidewalks will be reopened for the Providence Bridge Pedal, starting Saturday, Aug. 10, through Monday, Aug. 12.
