Jessica Morkert-Shibley is a communications coordinator for Multnomah County. She joined the team in August 2014. Her areas of focus include the County's Local Public Safety Coordinating Council, Department of Community Justice, Animal Services and Elections.
Jessica comes to the county as a 12-year-veteran of the broadcast journalism field. She graduated from Arizona State University with degrees in broadcast journalism and French. She spent several years working for stations in Arizona, California and Arkansas.
Her last seven years of broadcast were spent as a general assignment reporter for KOIN(6) News, often covering crime and social justice issues, homelessness and natural disasters.
She came to the county hoping to see the other side of the job. “A lot of people don’t know the wealth of services the county offers,” she says. In the future she looks forward to building more relationships and collaborating to figure out “how to make the community as a whole better.”
In her free time, she’s into intense exercise, including running, spinning, weight lifting and bar method. She listens to music -- particularly movie scores -- and she occasionally plays the piano. As she continues with her work at the county, Jessica says she’s excited to continue learning from her coworkers and to continue building relationships with the public.
