The Burnside Bridge will close to motor vehicle and river traffic on Saturday, June 7 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. for the Portland Rose Festival’s Grand Floral Parade. TriMet bus lines 12 Barbur/Sandy, 19 Woodstock/Glisan, and 20 Burnside-Stark will be detoured across the Steel Bridge during the bridge closure. Line 17 Holgate/Broadway will also use the Steel Bridge due to the closure of N. Broadway. Bridge sidewalks will remain open. Alternate river crossings when the Burnside Bridge is closed include the Hawthorne and Morrison bridges.
This year’s Rose Festival Fleet includes vessels from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and the Royal Canadian Navy. Larger vessels that require drawbridge openings will arrive in the afternoon on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, tying up between the Morrison and Steel bridges. Vessels that require bridge openings will depart Monday before 10 a.m.
The Broadway, Burnside, and Steel drawbridges will need to open for ship arrivals and departures. Travelers can avoid delays by choosing a fixed span bridge or a bridge south of the Burnside Bridge.
Multnomah County maintains six Willamette River bridges and 300 miles of roads. For bridge information, visit /bridges. For event information, visit www.rosefestival.org.
