Job description
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Answer, respond to, and record incoming incident information; determine validity of complaints and prioritize service requests.
- Prioritize and assign officer responses and district codes to service requests; route and dispatch services; prepare statistical reports; explain departmental policies, laws, and ordinances related to animal control to the public; refer callers to other agencies as appropriate.
- Maintain communication logs; monitor activities of field employees and maintain awareness of their location.
- Assist field staff by researching public information, licenses, warrants, and citations; communicate and share information with other agencies.
- Process citations, warning notices, record checks, and complete conviction records; prepare and distribute court documents, dockets, dismissals, and voids on citations; act as a liaison with the District Attorney's Office.
- Maintain and update field records from reports; review prior animal records; document complaints and process incident reports; generate letters to owners.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.
Animal Control Dispatcher
Training and experience for journey level, administrative support classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 1-4 years of qualifying training and/or experience).
Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
