Job description
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Manage caseload of delinquent personal property tax, utility, machinery, and equipment accounts; initiate payment, communicate and schedule follow-up enforcement.
- Conduct investigations for delinquent taxpayers utilizing various government databases, websites, directories and transaction records; perform interviews to locate debtors and their assets; research vacated or sold property transactions.
- Establish validity of assessments, initiate corrections and determine the liquidation value of properties; coordinate seizures and auctions of property and make arrangements to move seized property as needed.
- Communicate status and disposition of delinquent property tax accounts, the consequences of nonpayment, and collection procedures; identify and document uncollectible cases for write-off by the Board of County Commissioners.
- Manage and coordinate collection projects; coordinate with professional appraisal staff; initiate and conduct training; participate in continuous improvement processes; prepare various reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.
Assessment & Taxation Collection Specialist
Training and experience for journey level, administrative support classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 1-4 years of qualifying training and/or experience).
Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
