Scott Taylor, director of Multnomah County’s Department of Community Justice, has been appointed to Oregon’s Public Safety Commission. The Commission was initially established last fall and was recently expanded in an executive order signed by Governor Kitzhaber. Taylor is one of five new appointees to the Commission and was chosen by his peers to represent the Oregon Association of Community Corrections Directors (OACCD). “This is a great honor and a great responsibility”, shared Taylor about the appointment. “I look forward to making the system improvements required to ensure our public safety system remains a model for the nation”.
With technical assistance from the Justice Reinvestment Initiative of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (U.S. Department of Justice) and the Pew Center on the States’ Public Safety Performance Project, the Commission will analyze the drivers of state corrections spending, engage a broad group of stakeholders including crime victims groups, and make policy recommendations to the 2013 legislature.
