October 19, 2011, ten parole/probation officers organized a search for wanted domestic violence offenders throughout Multnomah County resulting in the arrest of 14 offenders.
Across the nation, 174 law enforcement agencies in 22 state led similar efforts. Nationwide, 855 offenders were arrested on October 19th for domestic violence related offenses.
The sweep coincided with Domestic Violence Awareness Month and brings attention to the problem of domestic violence throughout the country. The Department of Community Justice (DCJ) has participated in the Annual Family Violence Apprehension SWEEP for nine straight years.
DCJ staff who participated were: Denise Pena, Stu Walker, Amber Sutphin, Jodell Wright, Jessica Harrison, Christina Mossor, Marshall Friedman, Jay Burke, Andrew Altman, and Jerry Garza.
