One of several services provided to individuals eligible for MCJRP is the Treatment Readiness Dorm (TRD), a 55-bed space located within the Multnomah County Inverness Jail (MCIJ) that opened in May 2016. The TRD was designed to offer preliminary behavioral and motivational treatment to increase receptiveness to treatment out of custody and reduce individuals’ required level of care upon release to the community. The goal of the program is for individuals who participate in TRD programming to be better prepared to complete subsequent community-based substance abuse treatment and to engage with the probation supervision process. An evaluation of the TRD program was implemented in order to identify:
-
the individuals served by the TRD
-
whether readiness for change increases during the TRD stay
-
the individuals who engage in community-based outpatient and residential treatment
-
whether participation in the TRD impacts community-based treatment outcomes
-
whether participation in the TRD reduces future criminal justice involvement
-
the impact of length of stay in the TRD on future criminal justice involvement
