This is a standalone job profile and is not part of a series. Positions in this job profile support budget preparation, financial data maintenance, and provide technical and administrative assistance to the Budget Office.
Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Compile and summarize financial data for annual budget preparation; verify and maintain supporting records and documentation for budget allocations, expenditures, and reimbursements; track and monitor departmental expenditures against approved budgets, flagging any discrepancies.
  • Process budget-related documents including budget modifications, adjustments, and reallocations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with County policies.
  • Maintain and update budget information in financial systems and databases; assist with labor costing in support of union bargaining.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to various finance units, managers, and staff regarding budget policies and procedures; attend and support in meetings to discuss, formulate, and determine bargaining proposals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Perform the more routine duties as assigned with increasing independence.
  • Decisions made or actions taken require higher-level review and work is checked for progress and reviewed for quality and compliance to policy and procedures.
  • Receive general supervision from manager or staff.
  • This classification meets the standards for supervisory or confidential exemption as defined by Oregon's Public Employees Collective Bargaining Act (PECBA) or under the terms of Article 3 of the AFSCME Local 88 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Budget Technician
Training and experience for entry level, paraprofessional classifications are typically equivalent to an associate's degree and up to one (1) year of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 2-3 years of qualifying training and/or experience).


Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and /or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
