This is a standalone job profile and is not part of a series. Positions in this job profile participate in the Electrical Services Program and support electricians in the maintenance, repair, and replacement of electrical devices, appliances, luminaires, and fans in all County buildings, facilities, and surrounding areas.
Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Maintain, evaluate, repair, and replace electrical devices, light switches/controls, luminaires, fans, receptacles, and appliances on electrical systems.
  • Test electrical systems for all County buildings and properties; perform preventative maintenance.
  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace luminaires, switches, and controls; replace light bulbs, ballasts, and other electrical components up to 300 volts.
  • Test lighting egress systems for all County buildings.
  • Purchase materials in order to perform maintenance, repair, and replacement; purchase or rent various lifts; operate forklifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Building Maintenance Electrical Specialist

Training and experience for journey level, trades classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.  (Equivalency 1-4 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and /or additional training, licenses, or certificates.

REQUIRED TRAINING, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATES:

  • Possession of Limited Building Maintenance Electrical (BME) license.
