Job description

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Duties for the County Commissioner are outlined in the Multnomah County Home Rule Charter: Chapter 6.20 Administration:
  • Establish, alter and abolish administrative departments and prescribe the functions of each administrative department; make changes in administrative departments; fill vacancies in elective offices.
  • Sit as the budget committee; review and amend the executive budget; hold hearings; and adopt the county budget.
  • Act as liaisons to departments, advisory boards and commissions; adopt policies and labor agreements.

  • Advanced level

  • Perform the most difficult assignments requiring a higher level of responsibility, applying advanced subject knowledge, and exercising significant independent judgment and initiative.
  • Exercise direct supervision over staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

The County Commissioner is a position that is elected for a four (4) year term. The County Commissioners are elected from west, north central, and east geographic districts based on population as established by the Multnomah County Home Rule Charter.
