This is a standalone job profile and is not part of a series. Positions in this job profile perform laundry duties, process laundry orders, and operate industrial washers and dryers in correctional settings and in support of County Shelters.
Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Receive, sort, weigh, and prepare soiled laundry for various stages of laundry work; load, unload, and operate industrial washer and dryers in accordance with laundry facility procedures; operate bundling machines; maintain and monitor chemicals used in washing cycles; dye clothing and linen.
  • Process laundry order requests based on facility needs; fold clothing and linen and place in the staging area; prepare bedrolls (towel, bed linen, and pillow case); fold blankets and ship to facilities. 
  • Maintain records and reports according to facility and department procedures; track incoming and outgoing products; submit clothing and linen orders to replenish inventory.
  • Maintain and perform minor adjustments and repairs to laundry machinery and equipment; sanitize machines and facility; report complex repair needs; order supplies.
  • Inspect and wash donated clothing for facility programs; tag and send items needing mending and sewing repair; discard damaged clothing or linen following procedures for handling and disposing hazardous materials.
  • Fulfill and weigh orders before shipping out to facilities; load and unload large carts from delivery trucks.   
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Laundry Attendant

Training and experience for entry level, trades classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and up to one (1) year of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 0-1 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and /or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
