EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Assist patrons in using the library services; respond to informational and directional questions and make referrals to other staff.
- Provide account management assistance including account self-service; assist patrons with balances due; negotiate, provide payment options, or wave charges when appropriate; accept payments and make bank deposits.
- Assist customers with library equipment, electronic resource downloads, internet, and print management; maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
- Check in, check out, sort, and shelve library materials; enter and maintain catalog records; clean and repair materials; search lists for holds and track missing pieces.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of outreach services; ensure smooth library operations; serve on committees.
- Create, organize, and maintain files, records, correspondence, reports, and supplies.
- Create and maintain schedules and assist with timekeeping; may train and supervise volunteers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.

- Work is reviewed based on compliance, appropriateness, and effectiveness in meeting goals and deadlines.
- Receive general supervision from manager or staff.
- May exercise technical and functional supervision over staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.
Library Clerk
Training and experience for journey level, administrative support classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 1-4 years of qualifying training and/or experience).
Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
