It’s Kitten Season. More than 900 kittens and their mothers will come to Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS) this year, many needing treatment or bottle-feeding for those without a mother. Multnomah County Animal Services has helped save more than 93 percent of them with its Kitten Triage Program. MCAS, which is part of the County’s Department of Community Services, launched the Kitten Triage Project in 2013. The shelter repurposed a mobile hospital trailer into a space where kittens are provided short-term medical care. It's helped save unweaned, sick and feral kittens--along with the healthy ones--ever since.
